The new "Energy Efficient Incentive Act" has been updated and includes energy efficient windows! These credits are available for systems in service from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. The existing home incentives are now calculated at 30% of the cost of the windows up to a $1500.00 Tax Credit!

1. What is the criteria for the Federal tax credits?

Replacement windows and exterior doors which are equal to or below a 0.30 U factor and a solar heat gain coefficient of 0.30. (30-30)

2. What do I need to do to qualify for the incentive?

Under the IRS rule, the manufacturer needs to certify that the window meets specific energy criteria. The homeowner should obtain a copy of the certification from the manufacturer, installer or retailer when buying these products.This certification label, (Energy Star label) should be on the window. (This must be the homeowner’s primary residence)
To apply for the incentive, use IRS form 5695- (www.irs.gov)

3. Do CWS windows and doors qualify for incentive tax credit?
